I didn't know Raonaid or the Murray family, but I have lost three of my best friends to suicide, and a former neighbour, also called Murray to murder which occured in March 2009.

March was never a good month for me, but losing a friend to suicide on March 8th, and a former neighbour to murder on March 18/19 or 20th is terrible.

I can imagine what Raonaid's friends must be feeling, as I am feeling it too.

The pain never eases, one just learns to cope in some way.

I know what the depression can be like, I have felt it for months, I know the despair of losing friends that you love and cherish.

I feel a hypocrite for saying this because it is so hard for me to practise it, but, stay strong.

I feel that I shoudn't have said that because I am so weak myself.

What I have done to ease the pain I have felt is not something I should discuss here, save to say, it was destructive, and I find it so hard to stop and find another way.

The family and friends of Raoinad are in my thoughts, as are all the families I have known down the years.

As Christy Moore said in one of his songs, "The humour of nature is cruel"

Take care, be strong, be gentle on yourselves.

  Dear Murray family,

The terrible loss you endured ten years ago is as fresh in my mind today as then. I was working in UCD at the time and got to know Sarah briefly. I can't imagine the pain you have all suffered, the lack of closure and the constant striving to find the one responsible for the cruel act which devastated all your lives. I hope and pray that justice is done and that you may find peace. RIP beautiful Raonaid.

I am a taxi driver and I never drive up or down Lower Glenageary Road without thinking of your family and the peace you need and deserve. Even after all this time I hope the perpetrator is caughtor confesses. Your family deserves nothing less.

I hope you don't mind me writing this poem on our website to your beautiful Daughter, and you have probably heard them all before, but I take consolation from this one:
Heaven's Prayer

To my dearest family, some things I have to say, But first of all to let you know I arrived ok, I'm writing this from heaven where I dwell with God above, where there are no more tears or sadness, there is just eternal love. Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight, remember I am with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through God picked me up and hugged me and said I welcome you. It's good to have you back again: you were missed while you were gone, as for your dearest Family they'll be here later on. I need you here so badly as part of my big plan, there's so much that we have to do to help our mortal man. Then God gave me a list of things he wished for me to do, and most of all on that list of mine is to watch and care for you. And I will be beside you every Day, Week and Year, and when you're sad I'm standing there to wipe away your tears. And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight, God and I are closer to you in the middle of the night. When you think of my life on earth and all the living years, because you're only human they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry it does relieve the pain, remember there would be no flowers unless there was some rain. I wish that I could tell you of all that God has planned, but even if I told you, you would'nt understand. But one thing is for certain though my life on earth is o'er, I am closer to you now than I ever was before. And to my family and friends, trust God he knows what's best, I'm still not far aaway from you, I'm just beyond the crest. When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind, I'm walking in your footsteps, only half a step behind, and when you feel that gentle breeze o...

I am so sorry you lost your beautiful daughter and sister. I dont know what to say but I will remember you in my prayers. I remember being in school this time 10years ago and the teacher telling us it could have been anyone and to be extra careful. I dont know if it helps you to know that I often think of your daughter. She seemed like a really lovely normal girl.I hope that you are all allowed to find the peace you deserve.

Just watched the interview and its heartbreaking to watch for you her parents, it still seems so raw. I pray you get closure soon. I can't belive its 10 years since her death it only seems like yesterday. I remember the day after it happened I checked the teletext and couldnt believe my eyes living in Dun Laoghaire myself this just didnt happen. My thoughts are with you all.
